Purpose of the Role

To provide and coordinate an effective  accounting service to ensure adherence all organisational policies and procedures

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Analyses the sectional area's financial needs to develop a budget and ensures sufficient financial resources to meet business needs.
  • Advise provisions for bad debt
  • Assist customers with ART subsidy clarification and refunds
  • Compiles health services Vat returns in compliance to the VAT Act
  • Coordinate budget submissions
  • Debtors Ledger management i.e. follow ups on medical aid schemes, rejected invoices & unsigned invoices
  • Ensure all head office returns are processed on time i.e. monthly VAT returns, ART trust fund & Injury on duty reports
  • Ensure cash module balances to physical cash at hand and General Ledger
  • Ensure sub-cash offices are reimbursed timeously and regularly
  • Ensure timeous reports for cost management within Production
  • Ensure users release Service Entries, Purchase requisitions & authorise invoices
  • Ensuring Working Costs journal entries and reallocations
  • Ensuring accurate & timely AR master data management in liaison with DSS
  • Ensuring invoice processing in liaison with DSS successfully resolved/handled
  • Ensuring invoice processing in liaison with DSS successfully resolving/handling
  • Extract and interpret reports as and when required
  • Extracts cost reports, analyse trends & make recommendations
  • Finalises and accumulates financial information to make adjustments, close and balance off General Ledger accounts and period end (Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement) according to organisational procedure
  • Maintains and/or assists with maintaining cash management master data
  • Implements financial policies, procedures and processes and ensures compliance to statutory legislation and regulations
  • Maintains and/or assists with maintaining cost center master data
  • Manage stale cheques
  • Managing internal orders (initiation/set-up, processing/ settlement, & close)
  • Perform cost reviews and record minutes and actions items for follow up
  • Perform month-end processes, clear AR accounts, carry AR balances forward, generate year end reports & make year-end adjustments
  • Performing reconciliations, reporting results & resolving issues arising
  • Prepare for depreciation runs and exclusions postings
  • Process AP down payments requests, retention releases
  • Process accruals and adjustments to ensure accurate General Ledger data
  • Process accruals journals
  • Process journal to record revenue, VAT, debtors & stock
  • Reconcile and analyse the debtors accounts
  • Run month end process and reports
  • Stores issues to contractors mark-up, taxes (VAT)
  • Successfully resolving/handling reconciling items
  • Supervising Cash Book entries and intracompany code transfers
  • investigates and processes all payments not processed by the AP team, including invoices without orders
  • Verify and post invoices and credit notes

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures in area of responsibility

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • Added Advantage: Post Graduate Qualification in ACCA / CA / CIMA / BICA or equivalent

Experience

3 years experience in an accounting environment preferably in a mining environment

Legal Certification/Professional Registration

  • Registration with the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA)
